What’s On Your Mind

by James R. Yarbrough

Black Young Woman Multitasking

What you do now is what you should focus on. You can think about many things, but you can only focus on one at a time. To try to do more could cause a mistake. To think that it is special to do more than one thing at time is misleading, at best. It is not a special skill to multitask. It simply divides the effort, which takes away from the whole of each. It is analogous to being able to see more than one thing, while having the sense and design to only focus on one at a time. That is, unless they are the same kind. If not, you will be drawn to the difference.

We can do more than one thing at a time but will not think more than one thought at a time.
