You Feel and Act How You Think
It is about time we stop running from the truth. It is what it is. There is a question that we are afraid to answer. Until we answer the question, we will be no more than what we have been. I am going to give it a try. It is a fact as a group Black students are not as developed as students in other groups so they cannot keep up. And far too many act up and are disruptive to the learning process. It is the same once they grow up to be adults.
It is not the fault of the education system it is deeper than that. Before I go further, let me say there are outstanding Black students all over this country. But that only tells you that we are not all the same. The less equipped Black students are creating a negative image and reputation for and putting a drag on the others. It would be great if the better students tutor or otherwise help those who are failing, but we know how they are thought of and some of the names they are called. One that has made the rounds over the years is that they are trying to be White. Yes, when they excel in their studies, use proper English and behave, they are Oreos or trying to be White. Go figure.
As unfortunate as it is, we have to understand we are not all on the same level of development and cannot move forward as a whole. There are parts that will advance and others that will not. We cannot let that hold us back. Though we should always be willing to reach back and if a hand can reach ours, pull and lift that soul up. It is not being an uncle tom or any other derogatory terms, it is just the plain truth. We have not a thing to be ashamed of or to feel guilty about, and we do not have to make any excuses. Just be the best that you can be and I will do the same.
Our brains have the same makeup, but different—as we are—in what it can do for us. Our thoughts are one of them. There is no restriction on the thoughts that we think. There is a limit on the thoughts that we have. It is not the same for any of us; Black, White, Yellow or Brown. It depends on what we have in our world to think about. We will not have a thought about a thing we know not a thing about. There are no equal rights of thought. We do have the sole privilege to think the thoughts that we have. That is with no known limit.
We learn how to think from the many teachers in our life and then we try it on our own. What no one can do is think for you because no one can know your thoughts. We think based on the knowledge that we have. What we do with it once we know has much to do with how we receive it. There is no limit, but not all thinking is the same.
