I Am Better Than That
There are reasons why you let things distract you. This is so even when you are not aware of them. When you are distracted, you could be pleased because of it or disturbed by its presence. There is no grey area; it is either good or bad, it depends on what you were thinking and doing when you were interrupted. And your thoughts guide the way.
What distracts some the most is when they think of what others might think of them. Then, the very next thing they do is to start to change things about themselves. They change how they look, how they dress and even start to act differently. Some change so much it seems they forget whom they are. One thing for sure, a Change in makeup and dress will not change the real you; it will only cover you up. It is a mask that only serves to hide your Self from the world. The Self is your makeup. It is the soul of a person, it is who you are and it does not change. New makeup is not what you need. An overhaul of how you think and how you feel is what you need. How you feel will change how you act and view the world around you.
Makeup And Get Up Will Not Keep You Up
There are things that disrupt the flow of our thoughts. They are things that should not be where they are, and yes, clutter is one of them. When you are a young child growing up in a dysfunctional family environment you are constantly fighting to move the clutter out of your mind for it gets in the way of your thoughts and how you think. The cluttering of your mind and the presence of intruders is why you think the way you do. An Intruder is anyone who intentionally say or do things that should not be done or said that cause you to feel disordered and hurt. You must remove the clutter that was placed in your mind by these intruders. Your mixed emotions, bruised feelings and self-defeating thoughts are from the same cause.
These same intruders planted the seeds of doubt in your mind, which makes you vulnerable to the opinions of others. All forms of doubt must be uprooted. It is difficult to consistently view yourself in a positive light when so easily influenced by what others think of you. The things that are said do more than distract you, they disrupt your emotional growth and progress. And doubt is just another form of clutter. You doubt how smart you are, you doubt how good you look and will doubt most anything about yourself that others point out as a negative. Progress comes with much difficulty where there are disruptions fueled by doubt. Disrupt and distract are not the same. They are not of equal magnitude. One is merely you being interfered with. The other is to have your attention drawn away from what you are doing.
